Interesting that the city hasn't taken down the vines. We had one that couldn't be seen until about two houses from it due to a low branch. The city took down the branch fairly quickly.

Having gotten that out of my system, the shot is well composed and colorful - not your usual palette, though.

Thanks, Bob. These are probably not city signs -- too small and they're in an alley. I must admit, though, that the city can be remiss about similar things -- the clearance between trees and power lines, for example.

The more you cut it the more it grows. Then there will be three stop signs, maybe four.

As I mentioned to Bob, Jean, these are probably not city signs. I'll keep an eye on them. I use this alley fairly frequently.

They're trying to tell us something, John!

But I can't remember anyone doing what they were telling us, George. As well as being obscured they're a bit high, too.

The stop signs obviously aren't going to stop that Ivy growing. It's blatantly ignoring them..!!

I quite like the look of the ivy on the brickwork and the red signs looks very attractive poking through the leaves. It just needs a bit of a trim, so the signs are visible!

Nice one John!

this is so fun. we have a traffic light in the center of our city that has a tree growing down and starting to cover the signal. we love our trees - apparently more than safe intersections - but i enjoy seeing nature winning as i drive past that one.

thanks for adding to my group 'plants vs structures'!

And ivy has the extra added benefit of driving away evil spirits, raingirl.

I used to consider ivy romantic, now I see it as a bit of a plague, especially the one trying to swallow up my favorite oak. Perhaps one day it will swallow up all the deserted city ruins left behind by our "civilization."

Well, it is Romantic with a capital R, Sarah. Much beloved of Romantic painters. You'd think that fad would have died out by now, though.

It's already swallowed many universities, which seem to become more moribund by the day.

A work of supererogation, probably, Diane. Slowing down is probably safe enough.
