I prefer the large size myself.

The raccoon is by Jeff Blackburn:

I really like this one John........life on a street corner........and so much to look at. I particularly love the Raccoon with the camera and the face on the child's backpack. Some great reflections on the glass fronted tall buildings too............and the obligatory roadworks and associated paraphernalia!

Thanks for the link.............some cracking artwork on there, including another (fiercer looking) Raccoon.

Thank you very much, Keith. Jeff's raccoon is one of several he's painted on traffic signal boxes in Toronto. Among other animals. The city got tired of the boxes being vandalized so they commissioned artists to paint them. And, unusually for a brilliant idea the City of Toronto has, it worked. People don't tag the boxes any more, and the city has a wide range of works of art sitting at intersections all over the city.

I agree.............a sensible decision - a lot of towns and cities have done the same over here. At least the quality of the art work can be assured.

Here are a couple of examples from Brighton:

Come to think of it, Keith, the main phone company here has been doing this with its switch boxes for several years longer than the city. The city has taken the idea and run with it, though. It subsidizes underpass murals, paintings on concrete barriers, and on and on. It's good to see this is being done in many places. A quick way to make the urban experience pleasanter.

Love the raccoon. I'm a great fan of street art even tags. It's good to see it's taken off in lots of places. I'm becoming quite attached to your traffic cones too.

This city has brightened up considerably thanks to the street art everywhere, Jean. And the traffic cones, of course.

Nice street scene - a different approach from that of the raccoon!

Yes, I was probably not as goggle-eyed, Dimas. I get the feeling that maybe the camera is just a pretext for ogling.

To answer your note, that's a sandwich being eaten, I think.

A great street shot with so much interesting detail. Apart from the camera-wielding racoon, I was intrigued that The Works felt the need to advertise on their roof - high rises overlooking it maybe?

Thanks, George. You got it in one -- there is a modest eight-storey apartment building across the street, some other modest ones nearby, and a taller one up the block.

Further research revealed that they also painted on the other side of the roof, which faces a blank brick wall. What isgoing on? I think we should be told.

Girls on flat here but I joyfully recall that I took many in high heels on that street many years ago.

As I recall. Léopold, I took this on a Saturday. People were in their shopping clothes, I guess.
