Queen & Spadina, Toronto

Queen & Spadina, Toronto
Travel tip: Spadina rhymes with Dinah, not Deena.

Unless you're talking about Spadina House, where it rhymes with Deena.

So is the chap sitting by the pole Spadina or Queen?
And what, if anything, does he contribute?
I like the dynamics of this shot anyway!

Must be Spadina, Andy. A few seconds before he was punching the air -- just to loosen up, I think -- but no one would walk by at that moment to fill in the gap. I think he was just catching some rays.

Thanks for the remark about the dynamics. They're what interest me about this, too, so I'm glad somebody else noticed.

Pleased you saw through my 'jokey' comment. And yes I do think this is superbly arranged!

That harp looks like a lawnmower.

She probably used a conversion kit from Canadian Tire, TLC. Canadian Tire sells everything.

I like the partial woman with the cell phone and the wind inflated dress.

Thanks, Pappy. So do I. Her appearance was entirely fortuitous, of course. She entered the shot just as I pushed the button. But she does add a touch of gaiety to the phot.

A lot to see ! And a fine composition with the three persons as a triangle. And the background is exciting ! Great street-photography again !

Very live and alive street scene.
I like the "feel young" it sends to the outsider (us) world.

Thanks, José. I hadn't really considered that, so thanks for pointing it out. You have jogged my memories of my own youth.

Love the strong diagonal contact between the walker and the harpist. She's got a lot of baggage to lug around. Maybe the seated guy is her roadie/ bodyguard.

That could well be, Jean. The diagonal between the walker and the harpist was another fortuitous addition to the photo. I was concerned with him being in the right place. I wonder what the clipboard is for, too.

Another interesting street scene, with apparent eye contact between the walker and solo harpist - disproving the sign opposite "not just one".

John FitzGerald club has replied to tiabunna club
Thanks, George. The eye contact is a really important element, I think.

I really like this image because of the incongruity of the harpist, beautifully dressed, performing in the street.............as I always associate the harp with large orchestras, posh venues etc. I don't this I've ever seen a harpist busking before! How wonderful..!!

John FitzGerald club has replied to Keith Burton club
Thanks, Keith. I have a photo of a busker playing piano in the streets. He's an American who's travelling all over with his piano.

It's a very elegant one, too, kiiti. The front column curves very gracefully.
