Thanks, José. I liked the magical/religious air, too. The lips are like an object of devotion.

Thanks, Jean. I took this about six weeks ago and decided not to post it. While reviewing my old photos yesterday I may actually have noticed the shadows for the first time.

I wonder if anyone really thinks about what their signs will look like? Though I suppose they operate on the "any news is good news" principle. These add a ridiculous touch to your strongly vertical composition. The cords in front are a great touch - Jack has left the picture.

I've often wondered whether people think about their signs myself, Bob. Of course, you never know till you try. I used to have a business name I thought was really good, but many people couldn't even pronounce it.

Now that you mention it, I could have taken an approach like that good Torontonian McLuhan's. The lips and nails certainly fit with his analysis of advertising in The Mechanical Bride.

As José mentioned, Sarah, those ropes could be going to heaven. Maybe that's how the Rapture will work.

I like the way this photo is divided up by the window frames, the shadows from the roof supports and the ropes. The stand-out features for me are the red nails and the red lips! An intriguing shot John, which leaves me wondering why the rope is there and what the sign next to the rope says?

Thanks, Keith. As I mentioned earlier, the lips seem like an object of devotion in a shrine to me. Those are a windowcleaner's ropes, and the sign would have said something like "Danger/work overhead/travaux en hauteur" (for some reason overhead danger, wet floor, falling ice, and liquor store signs are the only bilingual signs in Toronto). Of course, those four would make a deadly combination, wouldn't they?
