Just heard about the horrible carnage on Yonge Street and thinking of you. I don't believe it happened in your neighborhood, but I know you get around and probably have taken photos there. I'm glad you posted something on FB so I know you're ok.

I had a call from out-of-town family, too, Sarah. I imagine most of Toronto did. I get up to that neighbourhood occasionally, but I didn't go out till just after it had happened.

The names of the victims have not been announced, so Torontonians are all apprehensive, too. And who knew that sharing a link about liver-related Alpha-1 would be reassuring? I'll think better of Facebook from now on.

To be even more reassuring, I don't have liver-related Alpha-1; I'm from the luckier lung-related part of the community.

John, what awful news earlier today. Shocking. Glad to see you're all right, but of course those things traumatize a whole country. This madness of the few is terribly damaging to the whole, and I only hope the world comes to its senses one of these decades.

The artwork above seems very appropriate.

Thanks, Diana. The eerie thing about this is that we only know one of the victims' names. We knew the name of everyone on the Humboldt Brioncos' bus immediately.

Good to know that you are all right. I agree with Diane about the artwork being appropriate and about the madness of the few.

Yes, it does, Jose. This city will do anything to make life difficult for works of art, but usually the artists triumph.

Very glad you were not around the latest rampage. It is just so easy for someone to do this kind of damage for any or no reason - the berserker among us. Someone breaks up with their girlfriend, so let's go kill some strangers. Sorry.

Thanks, Bob. I imagine Minassian's fitness to stand trial is being assessed. I suspect he will be found fit.

An absorbing isolation of elements in the frame. I’m caught by the way the figure in the mural seems to look down at the woman below. It’s the kind of photograph that makes me keep looking. A kind of fermata.

Thanks, Steve. I took a few of this corner but this one did indeed seem the most absorbing.
