Interesting effect of two shots, divided by a stop sign. Behind it is a warning and a regret, and if front all those well-painted whatevers. Even the buildings are different from the top of the sign. I'm sure there is an allegory of the closed in and well-guarded life as opposed to the more colorful, open one here.

I was interested in comparing the two sides, Bob. Apart from the building in the back, though, and the pallets and shopping cart (which are on the grounds of a supermarket), the photo is of the grounds of St. Michael's College in Toronto. It's run by Basilian Fathers, so the life there is a bit well-guarded, and the Basilians did start as an underground order. The open life of the school goes on in the building on the left, an arena that is the home of the St. Michael's Buzzers, a second-tier junior hockey team. Out of camera to the right is a dramatically-sited sports field which hosts track meets and high school football. The trees are commemorations of the poriginal countryside that lasted into the early twentieth century.

Actually, Jean-Pierre, the sports field off-camera to the right is quite a stage. The field is on the floor of a ravine, and the seats up the sides.

This spot deserves a Ipernity stop for the numerous elements in place for our groups.

This is a very interesting site, Léopold. You start at St. Clair Avenue West, walk through a Loblaws/Joe Fresh site, then through a Catholic high school, then an apartment site (with a park to one side. After that you can go down into the undeveloped part of the ravine and walk for a mile or more.

I like how one half of the shot is mainly composed of uprights and the other is mainly composed of horizontals. I also like the similarity of the apartment block to the towers of old pallets.

Thanks, Keith -- two features I hadn't noticed but are definitely there, and important. There's that stack of stairs, too.
