cupping the void

This piece with its almost Klimt-like arcs of gold framing the rich blackness of the background hits me viscerally & immediately, evoking overlapping images & ideas, particularly liminal ones: pelvic, orbital, stellar (ships, stations, star docks), sacred ornamentation, priestesses, queens of heaven, tunnels of light (birth-death), the star-gate from 2001, higher levels of space-time, intelligence, shamanic initiation, the descent into the Underworld/ascent into the Overworld, As Above So Below ... just for a start. It's the sort of image that evokes a lot from me, the sort of thing I can gaze at & mill over for a long time ... I can envisage it reproduced as large as the side of a building in a gallery space, perhaps as part of a modern church or sacred space. -- At any rate, such were both my initial & continuing reactions to it. I could easily free associate off of that for a long time ...
