at ille respondens ait amen dico vobis nescio vos,vigilate itaque quia nescitis diem neque horam
But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.(Matth. 25:12)
Mais il leur répondit, et dit : en vérité je ne vous connais point.Veillez donc; car vous ne savez ni le jour ni l'heure en laquelle le Fils de l'homme viendra.
Er antwortete aber und sprach: Wahrlich ich sage euch: Ich kenne euch nicht.Darum wachet; denn ihr wisset weder Tag noch Stunde, in welcher des Menschen Sohn kommen wird.
Sed li responde diris:Vere mi diras al vi:Mi vin ne konas.Tial viglu, ĉar vi ne scias la tagon nek la horon.
Mas respondiendo él, dijo: De cierto os digo, que no os conozco. Velad, pues, porque no sabéis el día ni la hora en que el Hijo del hombre ha de venir.
だが，彼は答えた，『本当にはっきりとあなた方に告げる。わたしはあなた方を知らない』。 13 だから，見張っていなさい。あなた方は人の子が来るその日もその時も知らないからだ。
他 卻 回 答 說 ： 我 實 在 告 訴 你 們 ， 我 不 認 識 你 們 。 13所 以 ， 你 們 要 儆 醒 ； 因 為 那 日 子 ， 那 時 辰 ， 你 們 不 知 道 。

ON HOLY TUESDAY we bring to mind the parable of the ten virgins, which our Saviour related as He was coming to His Passion. This parable teaches us that the accomplishment of the great work of virginity should not make us careless in other matters, especially in almsgiving, wherewith the lamp of virginity is made radiant. Furthermore, it teaches us that we should not be remiss about the end of our life, but should be prepared for it at every moment, like the wise virgins, so that we may meet the Bridegroom, lest He come suddenly and the doors of the heavenly bridechamber be shut, and we also, like the foolish virgins, hear that dread sentence: "Amen, I say unto you, I know you not" (Matt. 25:1-13).
