Was soll er auch sonst machen? Er kann ja nicht wegrennen ... und vielleicht gibt es ja Futter!

Vielleicht ist dies eine Art Buntbarsch (Cichlid), der in Ostasien zwar nicht heimisch ist, aber als Zierfisch eingesetzt werden kann - oder auch vielleicht ein Killifisch.

Interesting approach, I am a complete layman in this field, but I have heard that that this part of Asia is not the nataural habitat of cichlids - but, as you have pointed out, may have been added as exotic animal. And you are right, the climate and the water ist very mild.
