Wow, today! Very nice ... DOF in this type of shot is a problem ... it always is. You can't get much better without a tripod.

Yessss dW.. I'm here after School-tests and a lot of work!!
Well in this photo, I was playing with manual focus and my Polaroid’s Macro-tubes. You know about those tubes..
So, I used f/11 diaphragm and speed 1/3 sec..

It was an experiment with a single point focus and without tripod as you say.. :D

Well, the best reason I know for not using a tripod is not having one. I keep one in the trunk of my car, but that doesn't mean that it'll be handy when I need it. LOL
But the most obvious answer to the problem is the ISO ... 100 is pretty slow, considering what choices you have.

Sorryyyyyyyy dW, but I hate weights!!! So, the transfer of the tripod is a big problem to me

Well, I'll try to take the same pic with a bigger ISO!! ;)

Yes, me, too! That's why it's in the trunk. LOL
Yes, I think you can probably get three stops, maybe four, before the picture gets too grainy (noisy).

Well done Elina! =) I would have focused a little closer to the foreground though, but works well, nevertheless.

These cameras are really difficult in these situations, Sami ... the have no scale of hyperfocal distances.

Indeed they are... My Canon G12 sucks with automatic focusing on close-ups. But so does the manual focus. It is way too awkward to use and inaccurate. Traditional focusing ring around the lens of (D)SLR cameras is still the best way to do this.
