According to wikipedia, one can also eat them raw (after removing the fine hairs from inside the fruits) and make tea of them, but I never tried it.
The hairs themselves cause an itching feeling, if you rub them on ones skin (especially in the back of the neck). This is why the content of these berries is popular amongst children as "itching powder" - we also used it in this way at child age and tried it to rub on each other's neck... ;)
