Air Combat Camera Service
This building (at the Norton Air Force Base) operated in 1959 as the home of a Semi-Automatic Ground Environment (SAGE) Data Center (a computer network linking Air Force General Surveillance Radar stations to provide an early warning for a Soviet nuclear attack). It closed in 1966 when its mission was consolidated with the SAGE Data Center at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. This location then became the home of the Air Force Audiovisual Service (the windowless, temperature controlled structure being perfect for film storage). It also housed the Air Combat Camera Service until the building was abandoned when Norton Air Force Base closed in 1994. It is expected to eventually become a museum and television studio for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.
