Anthurium andraeanum leaf

Anthurium andraeanum leaf
The underside of a Anthurium andraeanum leaf.

A native of Equador and Columbia, Anthurium is an epiphytic evergreen tropical perennial of the Arum family, commonly grown as a house plant.

The plants are poisonous and contain calcium oxalate crystals, however they have been shown to remove remove airboure toxins (toluene, formaldehyde, xylene and ammonia) from indoor environments.
