We had great weather last spring--too bad I got sick.
In case you'd wondered: when Vancouver named the Hood "Canal" in the 1790s, evidently "canal" did not yet necessarily mean an artificial channel. It's a natural fjord!

I wondered why it was called a 'canal'. Interesting that we both chose about the same point to photograph. It was an interesting drive down through there, much more rural than I was expecting.

IIRC there was a good place to pull off! ;) That part of 101 is a lot busier on the weekends because of the traffic to the Peninsula. We were there on a Monday, which made for a more pleasant drive.

Btw, Vancouver named several other "canals" along the Inside Passage up to Alaska, where the names have stuck.
