I like the car also, gives it a bit of scale. I'm sure that is miles until that outcropping of rock it's hard to gauge though. Beautiful.

The car, to me, serves as a reminder of how long people have been exploring out in that area. The park feels very remote and it is one of those places that I wonder how people visited them back in a time when cars needed lots of help to keep running, yet there is evidence of regular visiting of the area in the 1920's. Great Basin wasn't made into a national park until 1986, but a central component of it, Lehman Caves, was declared a national monument in 1922.

Oh, geez, so THAT'S were I left my car!

I'm embarrassed to say I had no idea there was a Great Basin Natn'l Park. I just always thought of it as a geological/geographical feature, only.
