Darmstadt Stadtkapelle (#0138)

Darmstadt Stadtkapelle (#0138)
One of the first sites from the past that I wanted to find was a church that had been bombed in WWII and was maintained as a memorial to the war. Surprisingly the tourist office didn't know what I was talking about (or didn't want to mention it), but it was relatively easy to find. From what I can best determine, this memorial is called Stadtkapelle, see the detail with the adjacent photo.

It is not, however, the site that I photographed in 1969 which I see now was not a church: Darmstadt War memorial, late 1960's (061)

Don Sutherland has particularly liked this photo

We have one of those in Folkestone too. Just the bell tower remains. Also in another part of town another memorial (not a church however) where a zeppellin dropped bombs in WWI.
