Klamath Project C-Canal flume, Merrill, OR (0965)

Klamath Project C-Canal flume, Merrill, OR (0965)
Klamath Project C-Canal. Initially it wasn't clear what the structure was and I was surprised to see it reaching almost to the bottom of the railroad bridge. The Klamath Project was the massive alteration of water flow in the area, for agricultural and hydroelectric uses, that was begun by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1906. The C-Canal was originally constructed with a wooden flume in 1908 (http://www.usbr.gov/projects/ImageServer?imgName=Doc_1305121265102.pdf) and converted to a concrete flume in 1921 (Annual Report - Bureau of Reclamation, Issue 20 (1921)) See adjacent picture.
