nice clean lines. i like the recess at the back with the tree in it, who would "waste" space like that nowadays. were the murals original? nice composition, shot.

Actually SF's planning department has pretty strong regulations about offsets so that sight lines remain good, so even the new construction doesn't look as blocked off as in many cities. One thing I have never been able to capture on this building is the front entrance. It's very open (but beneath the trees) and has etchings similar to these in the glass. Based on that, I suspect these were part of the original. It is in a neighborhood that has always been quite sophisticated.

so that's the entrance, makes more since than an alcove in the back. those are glass etchings on the sides? and what do you mean sophisticated, do they drink their tea with their pinkies extended? just kidding, couldn't resist that.

Telegraph Hill is probably my favorite corner of San Francisco. We went looking for the parrots when we passed through in 2007.
