Reedley, CA downtown (0606)

Reedley, CA downtown (0606)
I am regularly surprised by the economic and social health of the commercial centers in small, generally unknown, towns in the Central Valley. This and the next two pictures of downtown Reedley are examples of how active such centers are.

There is (thankfully) a surprising lack of modern shopping centers in the farm towns of the Central Valley that aren't near a freeway.

It's the same around here. Once you get a certain distance from the Black Hills area, where there are malls and all that, the towns have to have their own businesses. But even so, there are people who come here once or twice a month to load up at the big stores. They make it an all day trip, an event they look forward to.
