Griffith Park Old Zoo (2607)
Former LA City Zoo. This zoo closed in 1965, with the new zoo opening just a short distance away, still in Griffith Park. Much of the structure of the old zoo was built with the assistance of the WPA (Workers Progress Administration). Grotto with covered stairway on either side (see adjacent picture).

Yes, unfortunately there is no apparent effort to safeguard the area of the old zoo.
