That might explain it. It was odd to find this in a remote and largely abandoned cemetery, but the Mason's were more active in the past so that might explain it.

I had fun looking it up. They are all Masonic symbols, and the handshake appears to be the one used by the Fellowcraft degree, a second level in the Masons.

It's amazing the detail put into etching the stone. If I'm reading it right, the burial was in 1909, so this has endured quite some time.
