Carrizozo, NM (3265)

Carrizozo, NM (3265)
In 1998 I went through Carrizozo on a trip east, and had found the town interesting, and thus have visited it multiple times since. I'd like to go more often, but with my habit of staying off the interstates and camping, it takes 3 days to get out there from California.

At some point in the past the town itself was a fairly good size, mainly built as a trading center on a main railroad line -- as railroads changed, the town largely died out. On recent visits, I've found the town to be pretty much as it was on the first visit -- the townspeople in the restaurants and stores have been very friendly, and the area has a stark beauty.
