98907/98957 approach Plockton station with a weedkiller train

98907/98957 approach Plockton station with a weedkiller train
"Clearing Britain's Railways". An extremely rare sight on the Kyle line, Network Rail's MPV 98907/57 climbs towards Plockton station with a weedkiller working returning to Inverness from Kyle. Built by Windhoff in Germany, these units began to enter service in 1999 and are semi-permanently coupled 2-car sets. The original 25 sets consisted of one powered and one unpowered vehicle, although some of the more recently acquired sets have two power cars.
