Gravis Gamepad

I was going through some old stuff, and cutting loose some things that I thought I would one day use again, but am coming to terms with the fact I probably never will.

One of these things was my very first PC game controller from about 17 years ago. The Gravis Game Pad for my 486 with the old school game-port connector. It used to have a little joystick that would screw into the D-Pad, but I lost that a long time ago.

The PC this was my big jump from the world of the Commodore 64, and I purchased the computer with my very own money; big deal I thought when I was 16.

But, all things must come to an end, and I ended up throwing the controller out last week to help with my clutter-clear-up project.

I remember seeing that controller. But, I never got one... only because I got an el'cheapo version of it... that similar to it... The two bottom were A and B, and the upper 2 were turbo A and B... plus you had the shoulder buttons like the SNES. which was kinda nice.

BTW... just to let you know. Radio shack had a controller connector, they sold, which I got for myself. It's one of those USB connectors that allow you to connect old controllers to the computer VIA USB port... my ol 486 PC controller still works. I can use it to play my NES emulator on the computer.

Perhaps I'll take a picture of it, and show you what it looks like...

I didn't know they made those kind of connectors. No big loss for me now though. My Ps2 is my main gaming machine these days anyhow.

I agree... but its always nice to crusie back to the old classics, like wolfenstein or Blake Stone-Alien Hunter, that was on the emulator MS-DOS game program (DOS-Box).

Works great as an emulator for fast PC machines like our XP and Vista Systems. And you can slow down the PC Frame Rate for games that have no way to slow down the Ghz to Mhz speed. Or if the sound can't configure properly configure due to IRQ's and so-forth.

It's definitely something worth checking out if you miss some of your old MS-DOS games. I know a few websites that allow free-domain to download these games. and the websites are virus, adware, spyware and spam free too. You should google DOS-Box sometime... check it out.

I used to have Blake Stone! That was a fun game. I've used DOS Box before to play Syndicate, but I never could get the sound to work properly.
