Fire department high-water rescue training

First day's training was holding position in a current

Picking up crew from an inflatable, too

Second day was at the roiling waters of White's Mill dam

This is where a man drowned in July 2017 and, though the water rescuers couldn't know it at the time, another man would apparently drown two months after the training. I say apparently because by early August his body still hadn't been recovered.

Getting close enough for a throw bag

Right up to the edge

Turning away can be dangerous

There's danger of swamping the boat

They made it back, safe and relatively dry

And gathered to discuss it all
