The dreaded "Snake Doctor"

The dreaded "Snake Doctor"
They said it would come to this, that damselflies are the gateway to dragonflies and that that way lies madness. Didn't have the macro lens, so shot this with the little 16-85 lens, but it worked out okay, I think. I don't like dragonfly common names -- this one is a female "blue dasher." They ought to be called "golden throat slasher" or "stealth monster" or something -- they're pretty violent insects. Where I grew up, some of the people called dragonflies "snake doctors" and were sore afraid of them. It was a windy day, and I think it's cool how it has its wings set to hold it onto the twig.

Amazing eye capture. I understand the madness bit - have watched them for hours waiting for them to settle then thinking photographing them in flight is a good idea.........
