Really. The only light is the moon on the snow.

Tried to squeeze out some noise from the X10? :) BTW, how do you find yourself with that camera? I hear its JPEG is one of the finest around.

I'd been shooting an X100 for awhile, and the X10 seemed to be a good combination to be a "when I don't plan to shoot pictures" camera. It has proved so to be, and I'm seldom without it. I got an X20 when they came out and in my estimation the X10 is actually better -- the X20 has many new features, but they're all annoyingly and in my view uselessly executed -- so I returned it after a couple of days. What I *really* want is an X10 lens equivalent on an X100s. Well, and maybe one that's a little wider on the wide end. Say a 20-100 equivalent f2-2.8. My Nikons would stay home even more if there were such a camera . . .

By the way, those things that look like hot pixels in the picture are actually the moon reflecting just so off of ice crystals in the snow. I was horrified by them at first, but then realized that they were all on each of the several pictures I made, but in different places in the frame as my framing varied a bit.

Hey, thanks for your detailed answer! I think I could get used to carry an X10 in my bag. :) Great point though with that X10/100 crossover.
