Buses Festival - 8 Aug 2021

Sunday 8 August 2021 – The ‘Buses Festival’ rally held at the East of England Showground, Peterborough. Eagles Coaches of Castle Acre, Norfolk WA05 VVO, a Van Hool T9 Alizée bodied Volvo B12B which I believe was new to Hammond Coach Hire of Kilcolman Hill, County Cork, Ireland registered 05C14030.

Sunday 8 August 2021 – The ‘Buses Festival’ rally held at the East of England Showground, Peterborough. Peeling’s Coaches of Tittleshall, Norfolk. Left is FAH275Y, a Plaxton Supreme bodied Volvo B10M new in March 1982 to Smith’s Coaches of Wood Norton, Norfolk. Right is CVH 733Y, a Duple Dominant bodied Ford R1114 new in February 1983 to Traject (Abbeyways-Ivesway), Huddersfield.

Sunday 8 August 2021 – The ‘Buses Festival’ rally held at the East of England Showground, Peterborough. Sharpe and Sons (Nottingham) Limited entered a varied range of coaches in the rally. TX69 SON, a TDX21 Altano new in October 2019 and built in Van Hool’s Belgian homeland. The letters in the registration number represent the Van Hool TX and ‘SON’ for Sharpes of Nottingham.

This Van Hool TX11 Alicron appeared brand new and was running on trade plates. Beyond that is EX18 SON, an EX16M model new in April 2018. (It had just started to rain and I didn’t realise I had raindrops on my camera lens).

Left to right: An unregistered Van Hool TX11 Alicron running on trade plates. D51 LWW is a Van Hool Alizée bodied Volvo B10M that had been new to Eddie Brown Tours of Helperby in April 1987. STM 238W, a Plaxton Supreme bodied Volvo B58 new in January 1981 to Sworders of Walkern, Hertfordshire. Completely re-built in 2017. VWA 290L, a Plaxton Supreme bodied AEC Reliance new in April 1973 to Littlewood’s of Sheffield. (It had just started to rain and I didn’t realise I had raindrops on my camera lens).

Sunday 8 August 2021 – The ‘Buses Festival’ rally held at the East of England Showground, Peterborough. Preserved Whippet Coaches AF52 VMD, a Wright Solar bodied Scania L94UB, new in September 2002. This bus was the winner of the best in show trophy at the rally.

This bus was the winner of the best in show trophy at the rally. Preserved S574 TPW, a Wright Axcess Floline bodied Scania L94UB that had been new to First Eastern Counties in February 1999. Preserved in the Blue Bus livery once used by FEC in Great Yarmouth following the acquisition by First of the Great Yarmouth municipal undertaking. Preserved P306 VWR, a Van Hool Alizée bodied Volvo B10M that was new in May 1997 to Wallace Arnold Tours. Preserved as Shearings 837 by Paul Webb of Biggleswade.

Sunday 8 August 2021 – The ‘Buses Festival’ rally held at the East of England Showground, Peterborough. The are usually a number of sales stalls at such rallies selling books, photographs and bus artefacts. This stall had a fine array of bus stops on sale some at quite considerable prices – some discernible from the price tags. The Eastern Counties Omnibus Company (National Bus Company era) bus stop on the raised display was £65. Note the ECOC timetable case on the right.
