DSCF9135 Stephensons of Essex 462 (YX11 CTO) at Red Lodge - 5 Aug 2017

Saturday 5 August 2017 (1738) – A pleasant summer evening where we see Stephensons of Essex 462 (YX11 CTO) coasting along Turnpike Road, Red Lodge whilst working the last trip of the day on service 16 from Bury St. Edmunds and Mildenhall to Newmarket. It is an Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 new in June 2011. Before the building of the by-pass this was the main A11 road along which were various catering establishments where coaches made refreshment stops on journeys linking the Midlands or London to the Norfolk coast. Over the years these have virtually all gone with the sites redeveloped. The road has been narrowed and footpaths/cyclepaths created separated from the road with grass verges.
