Stagecoach Cambus 439 (J739 CWT) in Mildenhall - 5 June 1999

Stagecoach Cambus 439 (J739 CWT) in Mildenhall - 5 June 1999
Saturday 5 June 1999 (1015) - Stagecoach owned Cambus introduced a new daily service X10 on Tuesday 1 June 1999 marketed under the ‘Stagecoach Express’ brand which operated Cambridge-Newmarket-Mildenhall then as a circular via RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall returning back to Cambridge via Mildenhall and Newmarket. Before Cambus was acquired by Stagecoach (in 1995) the company had also worked a Cambridge-Mildenhall-RAF Mildenhall service an X10 service in 1993/1994. In this photograph at King Street, Mildenhall we see Plaxton Premiere bodied Volvo B10M 439 (J739 CWT) loading for Cambridge. It was new to Wallace Arnold Tours in 1992. In 1994 it was acquired by Premier Travel for National Express work. On the nearside there is window lettering for the X10 but on the offside the lettering is for the Bury St. Edmunds-Newmarket-Cambridge service (X11).
