Chenery MSU 917 (A379 XMC, EIG 9324)

Chenery MSU 917 (A379 XMC, EIG 9324)
Saturday 9 October 1993 (approx 1540) – Richard W Chenery of Dickleburgh, Norfolk became a contractor to National Express on 23 May 1993 primarily to work the Norwich to London ‘Rapide’ service 599 but the company also worked a summer Saturdays only trip on service 347 at 1050 from Lowestoft to Cambridge returning at 1505 from Cambridge to Lowestoft. Unlike the 599 service coaches which were operated by coaches in National Express livery, the 347 trip was usually worked by a coach in Chenery’s own livery. MSU 917 is a Plaxton Paramount 3200 bodied Volvo B10M-61 which was seen at King Street, Mildenhall when working the afternoon trip back to Lowestoft. (Despite the destination board showing ‘347 CAMBRIDGE’). The coach was new to Lee's Coaches of Barnet, North London as A379 XMC in February 1984. It was added to the Chenery fleet and received registration MSU 917, a number it retained when it later sold on to Simond's Coaches of Botesdale. When Simond's sold the coach to D & H Harrod of Downham Market, Norfolk they retained the number plate MSU 917 which has been carried by various vehicles in their fleet since. It was sold to Harrod's as EIG 9324, the registration it still carried when acquired by Mulleys Motorways in August 2014.
