Kara has new Bling

Kara has new Bling
In order to show off Kara's present from Grandma, we set up some lights, diffused them with a sheet, fired up a fan and I got shooting.
I think I like this the best out of the 150 odd photos taken as she's not trying to pull a silly face here and managed to listen to the directions being given.

Nice shot David, I like the fan effect, makes her look like a real star! ;-)

That was the plan :) Although I think I need a faster or bigger fan. Mind you she didn't particularly enjoy the mix of blowing wind and bright lights in her eyes, but well, if you want a decent picture you have to put up with these things ;-)

You or better she'll have to make sacrifices to be a star... no pain, no gain... that's what they say, right? :-) What is the background, the ceiling? It really looks good that way, I don't like those backgrounds where you can see that someone used an ironed bed linen... ;-) Yours therefore looks real professional.

That's true, but she's only 13 right now and apparently the whole world revolves around her ego ;-)

As for the background, it's a nice slightly off-white wall. The not-ironed bed linen was used to diffuse the lights making them softer :)

Not bad for a first attempt at a "studio style" light setup eh ?

I once used a hair dryer to get the blowey hair look, wasn't one of my better ideas. It worked better when I turned the heat down, the model complained less too.

I'll file that under "useful tips not to try out" ;-) She complained enough with a fan blowing wind in her eyes as it was.

Thanks :) She won't let me take photos anymore, always claiming that she looks greasy or something.
