This violin has a story. In the early 1800's there was a shop/store in London, England that restored and sold on violins. One day a peddler dressed in rags with a sack on his back walked in. Opening his sack he revealed about 50 violins, like the one above. The owner of the shop asked the man where he had acquired them. His response was that he had been traveling around Italy picking up any unwanted home made violins as he went. So who made this is unknown, only that it was made probably by a carpenter somewhere in Italy in the early 1800's. The journey that brought it to my flickr collection - is another story.
