Wozu? Allein zur Unterhaltung, denn im 18. Jahrhundert diente das Areal zur Imitation von Seeschlachten mit eigens dafür gebauten Holzfregatten. Leuchtturm, Mole und die künstlichen Dardanellen wurden angelegt, um die Landschaft in das Schauspiel mit einzubeziehen.
