testing the sigma 24mm lens with a shot of my 50mm lens

testing the sigma 24mm lens with a shot of my 50mm lens
I bought a second hand Sigma 24mm f/1.8 macro lens and it arrived yesterday. Unfortunately, it is an older model that actually doesn't work with my Sony Alpha. I am able to attach the lens, but then get the "lens not attached" message. :(

I have found that this particular series needs to be 'rechipped' in order to work properly. I've contacted the NZ distributor about it, but haven't heard back.

In the meantime, I've discovered that I can set my camera to 'not worry' about the no lens message, and I can still take photos with manual focus. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the aperture, so I'm stuck with wide open.

This photo is using that lens in a wide-open aperture with manual focus (which I'm not that good at). :) You'll also notice that the EXIF data returns bogus information about the aperture and focal length.
