Goodge Street

Goodge Street
Northern line platform.

Costa and Stephie's Goodge Street fact.

Goodge Street was one of few stations on the Northern Line to have deep level shelters built alongside the existing stations. Initially to be used as public shelters during WWII, they were intended to form part of an express link after the war to speed up Northern Line services. However, this plan was abandoned. Back to WWII, and the idea to use the deep level shelters as public air raid shelters waned, and the Goodge Street shelters were eventually used as General Eisenhowers Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Expeditionary Force.
