Footpath through delicious blueberries and/or huckleberries.

Footpath through delicious blueberries and/or huckleberries.
Until the late 19th century this was a forest of spectacularly huge red spruce and eastern hemlock trees, sitting atop seven to nine feet of humus!, but oh well. "Barrens" are special too, I guess — especially if you're a huckleberry or a snake or a rock!

In Tucker County, West Virginia, on May 7th, 2015, in the Bear Rocks area of Dolly Sods, in either the "Dolly Sods Wilderness Area" or the "Dolly Sods Scenic Area" in the Monongahela National Forest, or in the Nature Conservancy's "Bear Rocks Preserve." I don't know!
