The shrivelment of their plastic and the deterioration of their adhesive has given these letters more of a fearsome "rock-n-roll" appearance than they ever had when the tattoo parlor was in operation.

The red paint color was selected by the tatoo people as a fetishization of blood lost by victims of violence.
