"Skid drop," I love to learn about these specialty workmen lingoes!

"Skid drop," I love to learn about these specialty workmen lingoes!
"Skid" here refers to a kind of pallet; and "drop" refers to placement, to the act of "dropping off" or delivering.

For fun I found this supplement to an oldfashioned Teamsters Union contract from the late 1990s. Here is a passage that might help you put the idea of a "skid drop" into a context:

Whenever a driver is required to go to another location away from his home terminal to pick up vehicles to finish a load, such a pickup shall be considered a skid drop and the driver shall be paid an amount equal to that of the second skid drop as shown in Article 48, Section 4 (a), for same, plus mileage rate between pickup points.

It is interesting to imagine these people speaking to one another in the parlance of their shoptalk!
