Inspired to pork; plus an entire Rockin Eighties Favorites Weekend's worth of highrise architecture.

Inspired to pork; plus an entire Rockin Eighties Favorites Weekend's worth of highrise architecture.
Odors experienced in childhood embed themselves in people's lifelong memories don't they!, and when I was a kid back in the eighties there was somebody's house I sometimes had to visit — I won't specify whose — that ALWAYS smelled like cooked breakfast sausage noticeably past-its-freshness, any time of day, especially in the carpeted rooms. That's what this picture means to me.

Even here, with sunrise hitting the hulking weirdness of the "Centre Village" building back there at the centre-left, which is one of the funniest examples of mid-1980s architecture I can think of, I just keep on coming back to the smell of slightly-spoiled sausage coming up from a carpet on a muggy afternoon in a hot stuffy house, and the memory of myself, little Timmy, wondering WHY this house always smells that way and wishing we could leave.
