Moreover, typewriters aren't toys and the red half of a dual-color typewriter ribbon is supposed to be used for indicating negative amounts on invoices and financial records. If the typewriter's color selector lever — that's the switcher-thing-between-red-and-black — is slippy or otherwise faulty, contact a repairman for a tuneup.

The picture illustrates the top of a "Library Book's Checkout Card's Date Due Pocket."

And boy some long-ago penman sure liked to be flamboyant about exaggerating the tails of her sevens and fours, didn't she.
