I always wondered how come sunlight causes plastic films to curl up and shrivel up all badlookingly.

I always wondered how come sunlight causes plastic films to curl up and shrivel up all badlookingly.
You'd think that the heat of sunlight would just bake the films on harder wouldn't you, instead of making them lift off. Can anything be done about it apart from having to replace the damaged plastic films.

I wish the sun wouldn't cause such awful damage to the things people work to make, it seems like civilization would've been around for long enough by now to have come up with solutions.
