Tomorrow by the ocean

Tomorrow by the ocean
sound does the world make when you take my fingertips and save them well in the palm of your hand as you step with me
over branches that feel from trees windshaken like we are windshaken
every single night and so often mistaken
so often mistaken even in the inside of each others chest
Where will we rest, dearest?
maybe tomorrow by the ocean
you'll carry my body into the water and hold the back of my head into it
until the hair falls in long black strings from my head and these strings will finally connect my mind with the ocean
and I will look up at your face that is
guised safely in sunlight that burns onto
the back of your head
while my thoughts leave
and drift away in saltwater
become seashells
to be opened by someone who understands them better

Tomorrow by the ocean
we could start again and I would understand you better
I would take my time to understand
the essence of your being
I would look into your face and stop seeing
the way your eye lashes are curled
the freckles upon your cheeks and nose
your eyeballs dancing under your eyelids
I would stop seeing only that and finally see what you mean..

tomorrow by the ocean

at some point your hands would let go
and let me drift
