Good combination...and an excellent action shot!

Edit: you might have been better with a faster shutter speed. Lifting the ISO to 200 or even 400 would have made the shot even sharper.

thanks for the edit starless :)... this was taken from a further distance than I would have liked and it was a spur of the moment shot. I do agree it could have been much sharper with a better setting and a little more planning.:) ( of course the softening effect doesn't help with the sharpness either) Appreciate your taking the time to comment and share your thoughts. :)

I see. Well, you did a great job on the shot Christine. It looks like they are jumping right up an incline too which can't be an easy thing to do.

Nothing could be as perfectly paired as a horse and his rider ! And it is even better with the saddle..... I have seen a rider's contest once, and I realy was amazed by the beauty of those couple of being..... so beautiful ! You had a realy great idea Christne

Thank you so much Isabella, we were fortunate to have been able to see the beautiful Lipizzaner Horses of Austria perform here in Lexington, Virginia. I was in awe the entire time of the performance. Such strength, grace and beauty. Incredible history in regards to those horses. :)

When done properly the motion as they work together is incredible. I've ridden a few times but never considered jumping. Thanks so much oh wise one. :)

lol, I grew up in the country... I didn't have a horse but all the neighbours did... the farmer across the road never rode his 20 some odd horses, so us kids did... bareback! annnnd we never got caught! Hey they got some exercise and he was none the wiser. Every day after school out we went out. Perhaps that is where I learned to fly?

k.e.s_kloset has replied to Shuttering Yukon
Well, it might have been. I guess you must have known where he kept their bridles. Well, I bet the horses enjoyed your visits and I might just have done the same thing.
Shuttering Yukon has replied to k.e.s_kloset
no, we took rope and made our own crude bridle and we even has a brush hidden on the fence to brush them out when we were done....

You were some inventive and determined kids Wendi. It's probably good we weren't neighbors. I can just imagine all the trouble we would have gotten into. :D

nice action capture, I always worry the horses will bash their shins when I see pictures like this . . . .
Clickity Click has replied to Amazingstoker
At first I didn't realize that the jump formations are made of lightweight material and break away easily if the horse misjudges his leap. I still hold my breath though when they take flight though. Thanks Stoker.

Super action shot Chris - my whole family rides and jumps....except me!! Prefer the safety of a car seat instead!

Clickity Click has replied to PaulOClassic©
thanks Paul, my nephew's wife, along with their two daughters ride and jump. The girls are 12 and 13 are have gotten quite good. Cameron, the oldest is just starting dressage lesson. I must say they both 'sit' a horse nicely.

Yes, it's a long way down if you come off a horse, fortunately I haven't had that experience but then I haven't ridden much. Too old to start now. lol

oh wonderful action shot lady c! the mono suits it well. we have our local horse show this weekend/week. the town is jam packed though with tourists and horsey type people are everywhere...the place stinks of hay and waxed jackets:-)

as a horse rider though I do love it. look for it on-line, 'the burghley horse trials'
Clickity Click has replied to Jon Smith
Thanks Jon ... I enjoy horse shows and will look for the Burgley Horse Trials on line. The Virginia Horse Center (huge complex) is about 7 miles from the house and it seems they have some type of trials/competitions every weekend year round. People arrive from all over the country depending on the event.
