In the onslaught of time

This is so near the coast that I'm surprised that it hasn't been washed away. The castle is like a fairy tale, and I love the PiPs too.

Thanks Amelia, the good thing is, that the cliffs here are not lime and chalk cliffs, but really solid stone rocks which resisted the surf over the centuries.

Merci Nouchet, peut-être parce qu'elle est plus loin du continent ? On y va moins spontanément que sur les autres îles (pas de pont ou passage), mais il faut réserver sa place sur le bateau...

Merci Malik, je pense que le passé as dû être dur pour les habitants : construit à la veille de la "Guerre de 100 ans" ils ont dû passer par des moments difficiles...

Je parlais de l'ancien temps ... Le château de pierre fut bâti sur un rocher en 1356 ;il y a eu plusieurs invasions surtout anglaise et a été ensuite assiégé par des espagnoles en 1550.Ne pouvant plus supporter ce siège, Louis XIV a finalement détruit le château pour qu'il ne tombe pas entre les mains de l'ennemi..!(source Wikipedia)

Effectivement, Malik, c'est impressionnant quand on lit tout ce que le château a vécu en presque sept siècles.

Die Kombination aus Burg und Felsen fand ich schon beim ersten Besuch Deines Fotos interessant. Und beim Durchsehen Deines Fotostreams habe ich mich auch jetzt gleich wieder daran erinnert. Aussergewöhnlich !

Danke Rudi, ja, mir ging es genauso, diese Burg lässt einen nicht kalt, es scheint so, als sei sie direkt aus dem Felsen gewachsen....

Ein super Motiv! Sicherlichlich war vorn etwas mehr Felsen, welcher dem Meer schon zum Opfer gefallen ist, aber sie sieht sehr trutzig aus! Mit ein wenig HDR? Sehr gut geworden!

Danke Karsten, es wäre in der Tat interessant, sehr alte Karten zu haben und zu sehen, ob da noch mehr Felsen vorher waren.... Ja, ein bisschen HDR habe ich hier zugelassen, ich finde, damit kommen die Texturen besser zur Geltung, vor allem der Übergang von Felsen und Stein bei der Burg.

Grazie Beatrice, l'Araba fenice è un buon paragone, anche se la fortezza ha resistito nel corso dei secoli, e oggi possiamo solo ammirare le sue rovine...
