It's a lovely building. Strange to see it from that angle when usually traffic would be whizzing in all directions. If this lockdown continues for a while yet I wonder if people will get used to not driving so much.

Thanks for your visit Jean. It is short length of dual-carriageway introduced since the building of a second bridge over the Derwent, in order to ease congestion on the original rather narrow 1776 bridge. People may well get used to walking, but will I think be back in their cars as soon as is allowed!

The tree is framing this scene very nicely Doug. A good building and quite a large pub by the looks of it. I wonder how many will survive after this strange time is over!?

Thanks very much for your kind comment Rosa. A very good friend of mine was the landlord of this pub for many years before his death a few years ago. It always seemed to be a difficult way to make a living even in the 'good' times, so reopening after this current situation is over seems in great doubt.

I don't think our local pub will survive with the same tenants, Doug. The brewery, Joules, will have some work to do I guess. Nice framing of what looks like a horse chestnut tree.

Like a lot of pubs in this area this one depends on holiday makers over the spring and summer to make enough of a living to get through to quieter months of autumn and winter. Survival of the present tenants is certainly in doubt.

Yes although pollution in this area is very low anyway the noise of traffic is not missed!

A smashing shot indeed Doug and one liked by me for sure .. brings back memories also of the time we visited W.A caravan club site when i towed our 5 birth up the road you took the shot on here instead of the next one along ( Cockrah road ) ..that was an experiance not to be repeated ..

Hi Steve. Thanks so much for your visit and kind comment.Your experience was not uncommon until a few years ago when a sign was erected to point the way to Cockrah road. Unfortunately the sign is so placed that some drivers have already made the turn before the see it.
