Lets hope so, I've looked through the photos again, and thought perhaps this was his arrival and the joyful photo was when he was 'recovered'. Mind you, I don't think anyone who was at Front really fully recovered, maybe possibly on a physical level, but emotionally and psychologically, it probably never ended in many cases.

I agree, my interest in the First World War started when I was at school, we used to do the poppy appeal door to door and even in the late 1970s and early 1980s the scars of the war ran deep, both in those that survived and the widows and children of survivors.
