In the Edwardian period Grindleford was becoming a retreat for Sheffield industrialists, Richard Sutton and Frederick Gregory of Nottingham designed an enormous spired replacement for the small 1830s Church around the year 1909, only the chancel was however built before World War One when worked abruptly stopped.
