after the storm . . .

after the storm . . .

after the storm, more flooding and damage to many trees,
it is sad to see, the storm has now left this area and we hope
the wind and sunshine will help to drain all the water away
and that the trees will recover, sadly many will not . . .

Oh, it's all flooded - but probably not for the first time, right?
beverleyplaya has replied to Erhard Bernstein
Erhard the river often breaches the banks ... but this has been very bad again
and now it's raining yet again ... I dread to think what this will look like if it does
not stop overnight ... and yes you are right ... certainly at the moment !

OMG, this is really impressive !!!! Hope one dary the area will get dry, dear Bev !!
We also had hard rain and hail this week-end !!!!!!!!
beverleyplaya has replied to Marie-claire Gallet
Marie-Claire, the land is saturated, it seems to not have had chance to really dry out and drain away ... now ... its raining AGAIN and I dread to think what it will be like ... across the road I suspect ... I was quite close to the road and field when I took these ... would not have taken much to flood the road ... thunder and lightening due and continued rain tonight ... I dare not think !

The power of Nature ! I hope for better weather for you. And for a lot of sun which will dry all this. Have a nice week. Many greetings Ulrich

beverleyplaya has replied to Ulrich John
Indeed Ulrich ... I just wish it would ease up a little to allow it all to drain away ... the other
week the trees stood in water that I showed .. that drained relatively quickly ... but now I
would imagine they are all stood in water yet again ... I dare not think ... yes some sunshine
please and light wind to dry it all out would be great .. lets hope ... Greetings Ulrich, hope
it is better for you there than here !

about to break the banks and just here I am sure it will have reached the road
level ... more rain to come sadly . . .

We also suffer from rain and coldness. Serendipitously I live 200 metres above the river. ;)

Great 'weather-watch' pics, Bev. The lead pic is a cracker. Looks kinda beautiful, though worrying. The moorhen must be delighted with it's pool extension.
Where are we?...kinda looks like River Blythe territory.
2 years ago. Edited 2 years ago.
beverleyplaya has replied to Phill G
Hello Phill ... I wondered about sending them in to Weatherwatch ... and my goodness the moorhen and coots were very "loud" I think one must have had a nest taken down river and
was most anxious ... I am not sure ... I think it is an offshoot of the Avon .. will have to take
a look ... seem many of these rivers are offshoots and join the Avon at some point ... at
Charlecote it is the Avon ... but the Lucy family there made a new offshoot ... it has a funny
name ... must look up it up .. but the Herons and Kingfishers love it .. River Dusk or something like that .. now I shall have to check it out ;-)))

I just scanned the comments...the Avon...shoulda guessed ;-)
beverleyplaya has replied to Phill G
The main River Avon is bursting it's banks just about in Stratford in places .. Cox's Yard is
shut down ... but the main road into Stratford where it normally is flooded, little sign of that,
but come tomorrow I reckon it will be bad .. and at Kenilworth and Leamington ... I just
wish it would take a break ;-)

Water covering green.
Makes for a sad scene.
This I know indeed,
The water will recede,
But too much rain
Causes pain.

A powerful documentation of the aftermath.
I love the light in the Foot Path sign pic.

beverleyplaya has replied to Dave Linscheid
the footpath Dave is so close to the flooding, you cannot get through the gate,
and it is not far from the road ... with the rain now falling ... I think the road will
become flooded tonight !

it continued to rain late yesterday George and into the evening,
so I imagine it will have flooded even more ... but the main
Storm Katie has moved on now ... the rain and wind will be
more gentle now, thank goodness ....

Fallnetöm

there was a report here in the news - about Katie ... terrible rain and trouble everywhere in the UK. In our area there was a hefty storm and a lot of rain - but it seems there was not that much damage. Probably all trees that were weak broke already down in the previous storms. Since decades there were a lot of activities from Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands to keep the flood away from the Rhine area - we are lucky that most of the actions work out.
beverleyplaya has replied to Fallnetöm
it seems to be flooding in different areas now ... I think because already everywhere is so waterlogged .. it cannot escape .. wind from a slightly different direction sends the water flow in the rivers back again and I think this is causing the problem .. old water draining being met with the newest lot ... it's a nightmare ... many old trees have fallen ... they cannot withstand all of this ... its sad to see ... broken branches everywhere ... so sad !
