I'm aware there are very different opinions to this topic..........I think people in Mexico, Haiti, Columbia, Honduras etc. are much poorer (except that there are also several percent of very rich people), but this would be worth a longer discussion outside ipernity, while drinking some good Mojitos ;-))
Couldn't one argue that the "poor" in Cuba is usually based on how many unnecessary material goods one has?
If we base a nations/countries wealth on the amount of material consumption they can or do subscribe to, then we are biased or misled, and not looking outside the box. Which in my opinion gives way to a conscious and even unconscious approval of foreign policy that helps feed slave labor and inflation globally. Of course there is much more to it than this.... i wish i could join you guys over Mojitos!
one of the first things, I was wondering about in Cuba, was the absence of advertisment .....and I realized for the first time, that there's no need for 50 different toothpastes and 50 different washing powders and so on. in Austria there is an campaign right now to distribute all still eatable foods to homeless or indigent people, which would otherwise been thrown away, either from super markets, bakeries or private households.....you can imagine the amount, tons and tons and tons......95% of all people in "western" countries cannot realize, what "poor" means, neother "poor" in a mental nor "poor" in a social sense........anyway: Salud and free Mojito for all
Pauvres gens les cubains !!
